Our Overton window is fucked.
The liberals are blaming the voters, the progressives are blaming the liberals and the conservatives agree.
We should be wrapping up Bernie's second term right now.
It's that fucking simple and I'm tired of pretending that it's not. Americans are illiterate and stupid and this is why we can't have nice things.
She got elected the first time and was immediately yanked into Pelosi's office and told to play ball.PetePierson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 2:37 pm Again, this "seems" sincere. Maybe finally grew up? And if that's it; kudos to her bc she did it way younger than I did.
The Department of Education, A) did not invent the US public school system, and B) does not have a significant amount of influence at a state level when it comes to the quality of education. If they did there wouldn't be such wild disparities in the quality of school systems depending on the state. Liberal areas tend to have better education systems than conservative areas, even in red states. This isn't an opinion, it's a measurable fact.PetePierson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 2:39 pmThis "argument" vexes me. The DoE is nothing more than a shit jobs program and has been for decades.
So you agree the states handle education better? Then no need for federal intervention. The Outsider wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 2:25 pm

No, I don't agree that states handle education better. I think some states handle education better than others which handle it like retards.PetePierson wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:09 pmSo you agree the states handle education better? And miss me with Lunch Programs or whichever DoE safety net program they promote.
Obviously education is a top factor for anyone to get out of poverty. Possibly only 2nd to a good home / parents / family. Ill never get your & Comrades resistance to vouchers or school choice.
Imagine having a say in where your tax dollars actually go to educate your child?
So we at least agree that Federalism (with this issue) is the way to go, correct? The Outsider wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:51 pm No, I don't agree that states handle education better. I think some states handle education better than others which handle it like retards.
This has nothing to do with the DoE. This has everything to do with local and state level conservative governments that have been purposefully cutting education budgets, neutering curriculum, and strategically dumbing down their people. Because they know that conservatives only do well with the stupid or the rich and it's much easier and more profitable to make someone stupid than it is to make them rich.
If you can't trust state governments to act in good faith you need to have strong federal agencies to mitigate that.PetePierson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:06 amSo we at least agree that Federalism (with this issue) is the way to go, correct? The Outsider wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:51 pm No, I don't agree that states handle education better. Why the need for the DoE then?
With the rapid daily changes in Tech (which you're more aware than I) makes this a global problem. I don't believe this is a uniquely American issue. The Outsider wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:16 amIf you can't trust state governments to act in good faith you need to have strong federal agencies to mitigate that.PetePierson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:06 amSo we at least agree that Federalism (with this issue) is the way to go, correct? The Outsider wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 3:51 pm No, I don't agree that states handle education better. But this has deviated a ton from what I originally brought up. The Department of Education has very little to do with the issue I was highlighting.
America is declining because Americans, as a whole, are too stupid to properly disseminate information at the pace it is received in the digital age and I'm sick of pretending that isn't the problem.

To your original point; were you for that babbling theater retard that was going to head the Ministry of Information in Homeland?
What's the fix? Certainly not the government telling me what to believe, no?
And if the states are voting for their own representatives than we all reap what we sow.
