Bottom post of the previous page:

Again, this "seems" sincere. Maybe finally grew up? And if that's it; kudos to her bc she did it way younger than I did.

The Outsider wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:50 am Progressive Democrats have always been anti-establishment because the Democrat party is essentially a moderate conservative party in almost any other comparable country. Our Overton window is fucked.
Nowadays even more so.

The liberals are blaming the voters, the progressives are blaming the liberals and the conservatives agree.

We should be wrapping up Bernie's second term right now.
The Democrats lost because Republicans have spent the last 30+ years dismantling the education systems in their states, which is why 54% of our adult population reads below a sixth grade level and why an even larger percentage has no critical thinking skills.

It's that fucking simple and I'm tired of pretending that it's not. Americans are illiterate and stupid and this is why we can't have nice things.
This "argument" vexes me. The US basic educational levels were so much better prior to 1979 or whenever the DoE came into existence. Now, the world has changed a lot so not everything occurs in a vacuum.

The DoE is nothing more than a shit jobs program and has been for decades.

She got elected the first time and was immediately yanked into Pelosi's office and told to play ball.

She did and yet still has to fight off party backed primary challenges every two years. Just watched that happen to Bowman, Bush, and others while we're expected to vote blue no matter who.

After this election loss, the party brain trust of limousine liberals needs to hit the bricks and go the way of Joe Manchin.

AOC is being very diplomatic here saying as much. 1,000 legislative seats lost trying to appeal to Republicans during eight years of Obama. All it did was get us trump and a 50 year supreme court minority.

That's what I mean by Democrats need to be Democrats.

The Department of Education, A) did not invent the US public school system, and B) does not have a significant amount of influence at a state level when it comes to the quality of education. If they did there wouldn't be such wild disparities in the quality of school systems depending on the state. Liberal areas tend to have better education systems than conservative areas, even in red states. This isn't an opinion, it's a measurable fact.

Pearson & McGraw Hill are more responsible for the state of public schools than any government agency.

So you agree the states handle education better? Then no need for federal intervention.

And miss me with Lunch Programs or whichever DoE safety net program they promote.

Obviously education is a top factor for anyone to get out of poverty. Possibly only 2nd to a good home / parents / family. Ill never get your & Comrades resistance to vouchers or school choice.

Imagine having a say in where your tax dollars actually go to educate your child?

No, I don't agree that states handle education better. I think some states handle education better than others which handle it like retards.

This has nothing to do with the DoE. This has everything to do with local and state level conservative governments that have been purposefully cutting education budgets, neutering curriculum, and strategically dumbing down their people. Because they know that conservatives only do well with the stupid or the rich and it's much easier and more profitable to make someone stupid than it is to make them rich.

So we at least agree that Federalism (with this issue) is the way to go, correct?
Why the need for the DoE then?

If you can't trust state governments to act in good faith you need to have strong federal agencies to mitigate that.

But this has deviated a ton from what I originally brought up. The Department of Education has very little to do with the issue I was highlighting.

America is declining because Americans, as a whole, are too stupid to properly disseminate information at the pace it is received in the digital age and I'm sick of pretending that isn't the problem.

With the rapid daily changes in Tech (which you're more aware than I) makes this a global problem. I don't believe this is a uniquely American issue.

To your original point; were you for that babbling theater retard that was going to head the Ministry of Information in Homeland?

What's the fix? Certainly not the government telling me what to believe, no?

And if the states are voting for their own representatives than we all reap what we sow.

A) I don't know who you're referring to.

B) This isn't nearly as large of a problem in most other countries. Technology will keep improving, but to be honest that is irrelevant. Anyone with sufficient critical thinking skills will be able to tell the truth from the propaganda, because most propaganda is lazy and easily refuted if you know how to think.

C) I'm not advocating for the government to tell you what to believe, I'm advocating for the return of education based on critical thinking and the fostering of intellectual curiosity.

The US, in the last 40 years, has fostered a system and population that is ripe for exploitation by authoritarian and fascists.
