The black on the tree actually looks like some sort of fungal rot. If I would have been lightning, more of the core would have been black.
That makes sense. It's just interesting that from the outside the tree appeared 100% healthy. Actually seemed to be thriving. Got someone coming in this week to cut it up for me. Going to keep it, mulch the small stuff and once it's sectioned up I'm going to cut it into firewood and shit, may even use some pieces for woodworking if I find any that I like. It also took two big branches off the live oak next to it so I'm eager to see those more when it's cleared up.

Water is the toughest to go without. Do you have access to any water at all?

Now I've got something killing my ducks. I've lost 4 over the last two nights. Two it looks like were carried off, they were the smallest breed I have, the other two being a Rouen mix and Peking were just fed on and left. Makes me think I've got an owl, a great horned owl is able to carry 9 lbs, my smaller ducks are roughly 6 lbs where as the Rouen mix and Peking are probably closer to 9 or 10 lbs so that would make sense why they were left. Wish my fucking internet wasn't out so I could access my camera feed for the coop then I may have been able to see what happened.

Anyway, I blame JD Vance for all of this.

My wife got a Pekin duck at Aldi's today.

I had nothing to do with it.
