Not really. I'd agree if the primaries were legally binding but they aren't.

Yeah, Joe Biden just released his delegates. The delegates are going to the convention to elect a nominee and they will.

But if you'd like to make this system more democratic, I'm here for it.

It starts with abolishing the electoral college and moving to ranked choice voting, but conservatives don't like this because it means that more often than not they lose.

I can't speak to the legality so I won't. But these same party elites who wouldn't allow a serious primary challenge and lied for years that Joey is as fit as an ultramarathoner, forced those 14 million party voters to cast a ballot for Joey. Just fast tracked him to hospice.

You think any of those 14 MM that took off from, went in early or got home late to support "their guy" aren't the slightest bit bent? You think they are feeling all that democracy now.

Something like 75-80% of polled democrats wanted this so I think the party is safe right now. In fact I think they're actually doing the right thing.

No, that's not what happened. If Biden was nominated at the convention, officially, then dropped out, and shadow government picked the successor, I'd have issues. But right now the lag between the primaries and the convention is working as intended. That is that if anything happens that makes the incumbent incapable, or appear incapable of doing the job, there is a legally recognized and acknowledged process for choosing a new candidate.

The fact that it rarely happens is more a testament to the fact that we don't shoot each other that often than anything else.

Also, Trump was contesting a national general election in which he mathematically lost the EC, not a primary amongst his own party or even being overlooked in favor of someone else. That was a fucking shite question.
