Bill Clinton is the only president since 1970 to have a balanced budget with a surplus. I don't think national debt actually matters when you're the most important (and strongest) nation on the face of the planet.
And he did it by slashing the government on the backs of the poor and military retirees. Pointless exercise.
So increasing income tax for the top 1.2% of the rich and putting business tax rates at 35% punishing poor people? True, those receiving social security was taxed higher, but he also reduced FICA which helped low income families. It expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit. I really don't know about military retirees other than my dad was and he never once complained about Clinton. In fact, I think Clinton in his second term was the only time he ever voted for a Democratic president. He didn't talk politics at home, but we always knew who my parents were voting for with regards to the presidency
No, gutting medicare and military retirement and healthcare benefits as some sort of goddamned conciliatory gesture to soulless republicans was punishing poor people. And that was just 1993.
After he gets reelected in 96 he cuts Medicaid again in 97. He repeals Glass-Steagall in 99 which sets the stage for the subprime mortgage crisis.
It wasn't all bad but there's a reason why he's not revered in liberal circles today and it has nothing to do with the blowjob.

The military retirement checks for enlisted wasn't exactly lifechanging to begin with. Both my dad and my uncle who lived near us used to comment that it was just enough to cover groceries in the 80s (family of 4 and 5). So a slash of 15% say isn't making a huge difference to anyone. Also, what military healthcare benefits? Do you mean to the VA? Because their families (children under 18 unless in college) and spouse always got free healthcase at the bases even in 2000s. The rest I have no idea about, but yes, elderly do need to be taken care of

I'm confused. The debt doesn't matter but you are banking (pun pseudo intended) on the US Dollar still being the world's most secure currency?
The credit ranking does matter and when the US gets downgraded, it will affect the strength of US dolllar.
Shit, just the Saudis moving away from the Dollar is going to hurt it.
The debt matters. And there is plenty of debt to go around. The size of the Federal government and military spending is the problem. Unless both are reduced on a massive scale, we ain't getting out of this. We ain't taxig our way out of this nightmare.

The Saudis won't move away from the dollar. They know we'll delete them from existence if they do.

And how would we do that, exactly? We are a globalist country, we are the good guys. We aren't flooding the market with cheap oil as it would hurt a lot of allies including Canada. Sanction them? Sanctions only work if our allies sanction too. What ally would see this as anything but petty?
You know, I miss the days of Clinton. While emby is unhappy with some compromises (benefits). I look back on it because we had a functioning government. Honestly, if Clinton never tried to reduce the deficit, those programs may have been championed instead. There were hard left and right, there were so many moderates.
Fear by the media and politicians have basically made everyone baby killing/forcing trans child gender changing/born boys look at girls naked in lockers/elitists vs racist/freedom hating/body controlling/bible thumping/Neanderthals. I know you and emby are here to get awa that moderate right echo chamber. I think both of you are far left and don't see them as moderate right. Socially, I am moderate left, everything else moderate right.
You two attacked me vehemently. I pointed out that there are ways to get a free education, the get off you ass was being sassy. Instead of arguing as to why someone should get a free education, emby attacked me accusing my degree to be useless. I restated my position, and again, emby, instead of explaining how this was not sufficient both emby and you decided to attack me. This is no longer a place for civil discourse if you do not counter my explanation that free education is attainable for everyone. If you want this to be a Rachel Maddow echo chamber, let me know. I will walk myself out.

You never wanted a civil political discourse. You and your mangina decides what's civil or not clearly. I will wait on Outsider bc atleast I think he has a soul. You clearly have only an agenda.
I knew orange fuck would win the first time. Won good money on it. I posted why I knew. History was 100%. He will win in 89% of the projections I used last time. It's clearly his to lose this time. Should I be worried that I need to put you on suicide watch? You know since civility is out the window, I wouldn't think of stopping you. You clearly would not stop anyone else. I just want to know if you will post a farewell here first

I will ad an addendum, I think another Trump presidency will be horrible, but I feel like it's a foregone conclusion bc the left think's Biden is their best option. Truly an elitist stance. When I pointed out a Rachel Maddow eco chamber, I remember her attacking Bernie Sanders over criticizing Biden in the past presidential election. FUCKING BERNIE SANDERSWAS CRUSIFIED BY RACHEL MADDOW OVER CRITICIZING BIDEN! That is elitist. That is entitlement. I know both you and BiBL are college educated white fuckers. If you weren't white, maybe you wouldn't be elitists

So the political compromises that I and almost everyone else who voted for Bernie or Warren in the primary are indicative of our elitism?
By supporting Biden in the general, I showed my true elitist colors because I felt and continue to feel that Joe Biden is a superior president to Donald Trump in every conceivable way?
It's only through elitist condescension that I am able to choose a candidate without projecting my insecurities on them or joining a cult of personality?
Maybe it's you that can't handle civil political discourse.

There are no good guys, but rest assured we'll manufacture a casus belli that makes us look like we're the good guys before we turn the desert into glass.
PS: While we're a globalist country we're also very much an imperialist country. Someone threatens our hegemony and you'd better believe our government will do whatever is needed to maintain it.
