In Florida where you are required to have both flood and hurricane insurance? I don't blame you.

My folks live on a barrier island off the west coast. Every year they have so much trouble finding insurance. House is paid for - tell them all the time to just get basic homeowner's or whatever. Because if the big one does hit? Bye-Bye island. Hello Insurance Co declaring for bankruptcy.
You only have to have flood insurance if you live in a flood zone. I'm only about 5 miles from the water but not in a flood zone, so no flood insurance on my policy. It's still pretty fucking expensive, though.

When I was in Florida, I was about the same distance from the Gulf and also not in a flood zone. I guess I was more speaking to the insanity of arguing with the insurance company whether it was the hurricane or the flood caused by the rain, wind & storm surge from the hurricane that caused the damage.

Not all that needlessly as it turns out. Been a pretty good boost.

That child tax credit was a huge deal. It cut childhood poverty by 40% only to get sunset by Republicans for spite.
You're citing a 1997 law in (checks calendar) 2024?
The American Rescue Plan’s expansion of the Child Tax Credit will reduced child poverty by (1) supplementing the earnings of families receiving the tax credit, and (2) making the credit available to a significant number of new families. Specifically, the Child Tax Credit was revised in the following ways for 2021:

The credit amount was increased for 2021. The American Rescue Plan increased the amount of the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 to $3,600 for qualifying children under age 6, and $3,000 for other qualifying children under age 18.
The credit was made fully refundable. By making the Child Tax Credit fully refundable, low- income households will be entitled to receive the full credit benefit, as significantly expanded and increased by the American Rescue Plan.
The credit’s scope has been expanded. The American Rescue Plan allowed 17-year-olds to qualify for the Child Tax Credit. Previously, only children 16 and younger qualified.
Many eligible taxpayers received monthly advance payments of half of their estimated 2021 Child Tax Credit amounts during 2021 from July through December. Families caring for children were able to receive financial assistance on a consistent monthly basis from July to December 2021, instead of waiting until tax filing season to receive all of their Child Tax Credit benefits.
Interesting, too bad I am neither poor enough or have kids young enough to take advantage

Right, much better to have the nameless, faceless, unelected criminals run the country.

Best we can hope for is Obama and his ppl get a 4th term, GOP maintains the house, possibly the Senate and congress continues to be the most "unproductive" legislators in history.

For sure this has been the biggest do nothing Congress in decades. Can't even find a house speaker who can speak.

Why would I trust Donald Trump over a nameless, faceless bureaucrat? Donald Trump hates me.

I actually read that very same argument you just made on reddit this morning.

"Vote Biden to preserve the bureaucracy is not a winning message"

After watching & reading what the 4th Estate has put out there after some click bait on Friday; Trump can't win. They are in the bag for that senile Ole Fuck.

May as well not have an election. It's not possible for Joey to lose.

Congrats Comrade, you'll get another 4 years of whatever this is!
