Minor quibble, I think it takes roughly two years for a President's economic plans to start taking effect. So by this point in his first term I'd say that most of the credit for the current economy is likely due to the Biden administration and their plans.

Something like UBI is going to have to happen in the next 15-20 years as AI makes unskilled labor a type of job that humans simply can't compete in. I'm not one of those people that think literally every job is going to go away overnight, but a shit load of customer support and general 'call-center' type jobs will evaporate. And god forbid we ever train these AI models on spatial awareness. Then you can wave goodbye to retail workers, physical laborers (robots will be cheaper even when considering maintenance, etc. especially in more dangerous fields), basically any type of job that isn't highly specialized or technical.

Those jobs aren't being replaced. So in essence I think we're about a decade to two away from the biggest labor market crisis, possibly in human history with no real answer other than social programs.

But obviously, we're human beings so we won't prepare at all and then when millions of people end up jobless over a period of a few years with no remedy other than the one that's been obvious for years to anyone with a bit of foresight we'll throw up our hands, bitch about welfare queens, and probably not do anything about it until it's far too late.

I concede. There are many articles, stats, etc... that show the market usually feels much more comfortable about the direction of the economy in year 3 of an administration.

I'm with you. AI will most definitely alter the workface and most likely dramatically but it is not happening tomorrow. We've gone through agricultural, industrial, technological dramatic shifts in the past and people figured it out. I expect that we make the same transition as people "learn to code", provide maintenance / repairs for the machines etc...

I am not completely heartless. There are many people that are just plain unlucky / unfortunate and do legitimately need assistance. The government is just too inept and inefficient to do what is needed on a consistent basis.

Our income is taxed.
Items / services that we purchase are taxed after that.
The service provider is taxed.
The materials used by service provider are taxed and so on...
Property taxes? WHAT?

And then at the end of the year, I am supposed to tell the state what I owe them? They already tax us on everything all year. Why don't they just cut the bullshit and tell me what I owe? Because if I get it wrong, I will be taxed some more...

I do ok financially. But in what world should I accept being at a mid 30% tax rate. Then the real ball slap is that the state pisses that money away with absolutely zero accountability.

You only have to have flood insurance if you live in a flood zone. I'm only about 5 miles from the water but not in a flood zone, so no flood insurance on my policy. It's still pretty fucking expensive, though.
