Bottom post of the previous page:

Holy smokes he's got it bad.

My wife is also the vegetable farmer. She made me add a backyard chicken coop two years ago. My oldest has been collecting indoor plants for the past 4-5 years.

She kept a pothos plant that was a gift from Papaw's funeral in 2014 that's got it's own corner of the den.

Given the chance to farm again, I'd plant an orchard of fruit trees with a hive of bees in the middle of it. I'm too fat to bend over for plants.

Basically, I get the love but it is too much work for me. I'd rather casually chuck a 2oz spoon 70 yards over and over again for four hours in balls deep water.

That's why I mostly grow trees and bushes that once established require very little maintenance. Then I smoke a lot of weed. Oh and I also grow a lot of weed.

One good bite, but he spit me out.

Good quality time with the wife though. Were going to go after the blue crabs next week and try for Spanish mackerel or redfish in the bay if we don't see any yet.

They typically spawn around the first week of July but I bet the warm water had em molting earlier and thus spawning earlier.

Yeah possible about the blue crabs. The mackerel should be running like crazy right now though. Fishing for Spanish Mackerel this time of year is almost a cheat code if you run across a school of them. Jack Crevalle, too. I had a few instances fishing off my mom's old seawall where I could have dropped a cast net and had like 300 lbs of Jack Crevalle without trying.

I remember seeing Jack Crevalle cruising the mangroves around Pine Island. Fishing seemed easier down there.

There's a ton of seaweed and grass on Okaloosa Island/Destin that's spoiling the surf fishing atm. But the crabs should be getable in the sand flats on the Choctawhatchee bay side. Tourists will have you off the beach by 10am when you can't bear to watch some eight year old kid charge right into the rip current you're fishing at.

So I forwarned the wife that I just might have to do a little evening fishing from quitting time until the dinner rush is having cocktails.

For reference, That sandbar jutting out from Fort Walton beach is Okaloosa Island. The Island is co-owned mostly by the Gulf Islands National Seashore and the United States Air Force. most of it is undeveloped beach off limits to the public, but on the bay side I filled a five gallon bucket with blue crabs a couple years ago. Just gotta get the hell out of there before you fry in the sun.

I aughtta bust of a claw and put it on a hook.
If the mackerel are really out running just set up shop in/around a pass or channel of some sort, if they run through it you're almost guaranteed to catch a few. And remember, steel leaders are your friend.

Got a single whiting just before giving up. Got a good show of some dolphins fishing on the second sand bar.

Going back in the morning.
