The authoritarian government that, *checks notes* wants to ease the debt burden on the poorest parts of the population, is in favor of more expansive personal rights, and is supporting two democratic countries in their wars with real authoritarian nations/governments (the Israel/Palestine thing is complicated but at the end of the day Hamas is doing more to drag out that conflict than anyone else). That authoritarian government?
It's been a real disaster economically too.

Disney is setting attendance records.

How dare they.

Theyre too busy railing against the authoritarian government to bother with another dead black guy shot by the cops.

That's because their park is not their movies, in fact they lost a billion in theatrical releases alone in 2023 per Forbes. CNBC reports that Disney hasn't reported positive operating income in its "Content Sales/Licensing and Other" business unit, which includes theatrical, since the quarter that ended April 2, 2022. Disney+ is $11 billion in they hole and even with licensing out exclusive content and even with other cuts isn't thought to be making a profit before the end of the year.

I know you are just making fun of "woke" people, but they are seriously not in a great place regarding their content

They fucked up Star Wars. Let them bleed.

Truth is the economy is better than we think. We're just being bitchy about it because we refuse to accept this as the new normal.

You've always been a fan of Dark Biden. That said, Bibi is the worst thing to happen to Israel and Palestine in a long time. He is at that point where his about to lose all international support, if he keeps doubling down

Sure.

I just got pushed into having to refinance my house this year which is something I didn't want. So I paid off a bunch of shit and have a much looser budget and more money at the end of the month.

That and a 20% raise has me buying furniture, good dental insurance, interior paint, and a shit load of fishing tackle.

Netanyahu is the single biggest creator of antisemitism in the world.

You know who has been dead on balls accurate calling the Israeli war crimes? Bernie Sanders.

The Zionist experiment is an abject failure. The only solution is a one state solution where Jews and Gentiles live as equals.

We were not attacked on 9/11 because Muslims hate our freedoms

We were not attacked on 9/11 because wokeness

We were not attacked on 9/11 because of oil

We were attacked on 9/11 because we support the Israeli oppression of the Palestinians.

The Israelis weren't worth the first attack. I'll be damned if they earn us another one.

Nothing you said there is explicitly wrong. But it's hard to negotiate when one group wants the wholesale destruction of the other side as their majority stance. This is a really fucked up situation and a big part of me wishes we could just glass the whole region and save the world a bunch of trouble.

Wouldn't you want to kill your opressors too?

Imagine the British Army as savage as the IDF. We still tell the story of the gross offense of a squad of British troops shooting a black man protesting occupation in downtrown Boston. British troops picking off women and children for sport would be the type of shit I'd become a terrorist about.

Hell, I'd cross a frozen river in the middle of the night to kill the enemy in their beds on Christmas morning.

I think it's a far cry from wanting to wage war to wanting to exterminate an entire country's population, an ethnic group, a religious group, etc.

I can empathize with Palestinians and acknowledge that their feelings are not entirely unfounded while also acknowledging that they're wrong. Bibi's Israel is also wrong. The difference is that Israel has made overtures of peace in the past that any reasonable leadership group would have seen as generous and equitable. Palestine's recent history, regardless of who is in control, is to reject any deal that doesn't involved the expulsion of Jews from Israel.

I just think that if we want to be the world's arbiter of peace, justice, and security we need to have the testicular fortitude to do some unsavory things from time to time. Doing the right thing isn't always pretty or popular. The right thing in this instance would be negotiating for someone to take the Palestinian refugees, then send in the US military, tell the IDF to fuck off out of Gaza, tell Hamas to disband or we'll systematically dismantle them regardless of where they're hiding, and if either side so much as fires a shot at our men we unleash holy hell fire the likes of which the world hasn't seen since the 1940s.

But Americans are too weak hearted to do the hard things. We're an indolent, spoiled, and frankly stupid country that wouldn't know how to do the right thing if it were laying in front of us spread eagled, beckoning us in with those aircraft landing glowsticks.
