Re: The Off-season
He would be so much better than the Revis deal. Going to a scheme that isn't the opposite of how he plays his game, talent around him at virtually every other position on the line, and he's not coming off a major knee injury.
Imagine Garrett, Vea, Kancey, and Diaby as your 4 man rush. That gives a ton of teams problems and maybe let's us blitz a bit less.

mdb said we had nearly the same number of sacks in 2024 that we had in 2020. What do you think? The Outsider wrote: βMon Feb 03, 2025 6:51 pmHe would be so much better than the Revis deal. Sacks in 2024: 46
He's not wrong, technically. It's just that last year the sacks were spread around with a lot of DBs getting sacks. We didn't have someone like Shaq who in 2020 had 19.5 sacks, someone who was literally a game changer for other teams, he - to an extent - forced offenses to make adjustments often away from what they did best.
This is an example of why numbers are useless without context and mdb is a dumb boomer.

Re: The Off-season
Charlie Strong in at D-line coach. I know he wasn't very good with USF as a HC but he was one of the best DCs in the NCAA when he was with UF. Those defenses were talented, but not anywhere close to as unfairly talented as their offenses. I like the hire. Lets a really smart guy focus on a key position group that has arguably been underperforming but is also experienced and knowledgeable enough to contribute to the defense overall. I get the feeling they brought him in to basically be assistant DC under Bowles to make our scheme a bit more flexible.
