My broke ass (making almost 60k) subsists mostly on rice, ramen, chicken thighs, and vegetables I grow. I also raise my own eggs.

I've been checking out local farms for both eggs & beef. Also kicking around the idea of building a Chicken Coop. But have to do a lot more research.

I have ducks. They're so much lower maintenance than chickens. I have a coop for them if the weather gets bad but they mostly just sleep outside wherever. The only downside is that they don't nest like chickens do where they nest in boxes. Ducks will find the most ridiculously illogical and hidden places to nest and lay their eggs so I'm constantly hunting through my brush and bushes. I have also ended up with more ducks than I started with due to this.

Duck eggs are slightly higher in calories and cholesterol but they have more nutritious value than a chicken egg and depending on the breed of duck the eggs could be up to 3x the size of a chicken egg.

What I really want are a pair of geese, great guard animals and I'd pay good money to watch my pit-mixes get humbled by some seriously pissed off waterfowl.

I remember you mentioning this last year. I know Florida has plenty of predators for ducks / chickens. My backyard leads into an actual nature preserve so definitely concerned about them being dinner instead making delicious egg goodness. Like I said, I have a lot to learn before doing anything.

I don't have a nature preserve, but I do have a few ponds and a wide stretch of land behind my property. I've lost a few ducks to what I assume was an owl, but for the most part my 3 big dogs pissing all over the place keep the predators away.

I'm at the most narrow point of the preserve so you likely have more land behind your home. Guess it's a good thing I now have my parent's dog along with the Bear. My entire life consists of shit patrol now.

BTW- is there an issue with notification? I haven't been seeing them on the front page?

I'm not savvy enough to know if the certificate issue was affecting my notification (someone replied / quoted my post). But I saw a notification today. Either way, it wasn't a big deal.


As far as USAID, I don't care. And I'm really not trying to be a dick or piss you or MB off. I meant what I have been saying / posting for years; Burn it Down. There will always be government waste, fraud, corruption regardless who is in office / which side of the Uniparty has power. Just part of the deal.

It has become insanity. The amount of money sent around the world does absolutely nothing for me & mine. Access to Fed personal / banking info? I don't recall too many here and other renditions of political forums being too bent about the NSA, FISA, Patriot Act....
