I like Penix and think he'll fare better than he gets credit for, but seeing him standing on the sidelines watching Kirk Cousins work is gonna show how much hype there is about rookies. The Outsider wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 8:45 am I'm loving the schadenfreude, but I'm also kind of nervous. Penix looks really talented. Yes he had knee injuries and will be older when they move on from Kirk. But Kirk is a damn good QB to learn from and he's not the type of guy to pull a Brett Favre and be a douchebag about things. It just doesn't seem to be in his nature.
I'm nervous that Kirk turns their culture around and makes them competitive, unlocking the potential in London and Pitts, and when he's done there Penix steps into a Jordan Love-esque situation except he'll be a few years older. This isn't Brandon Weedon making his first start as a 28 year old rookie. This will be a 27 year old, who was considered pro ready coming out, who has had ~3 years to learn how to be an NFL QB without the pressure of a whole franchise on his shoulders.
The Falcons could be a problem for the next 10+ years if it pans out.
But it's Atlanta so they'll dorf it up anyway.
