Culp looks like nice value for your 7th round tight end.

Literally my goal for him is to be better here than Austin Safarian Jenkins was as a second rounder. Should be a good bar to clear.

He's small, but has the frame to add some weight. Running a 4.47 at 230 is pretty damn good though.

Agreed. Barton was a total steal where we got him. I really liked the edge we got from bama and Bucky. The S we got seems like he'll add some immediate value in the secondary as well. And the late round guys are all players who appear to be very athletic, just from small schools or raw. That doesn't always work out, but physical traits are pretty damn difficult to develop beyond what they already have.

My guess is that this coaching staff is looking for projects.

Well, for once we don't have many roster holes. That gives us the rare ability to only have to nail a couple picks this draft as immediate contributers (I think our first 4 picks will fit that bill tbh) and the rest of the guys are developmental.

I'm loving the schadenfreude, but I'm also kind of nervous. Penix looks really talented. Yes he had knee injuries and will be older when they move on from Kirk. But Kirk is a damn good QB to learn from and he's not the type of guy to pull a Brett Favre and be a douchebag about things. It just doesn't seem to be in his nature.

I'm nervous that Kirk turns their culture around and makes them competitive, unlocking the potential in London and Pitts, and when he's done there Penix steps into a Jordan Love-esque situation except he'll be a few years older. This isn't Brandon Weedon making his first start as a 28 year old rookie. This will be a 27 year old, who was considered pro ready coming out, who has had ~3 years to learn how to be an NFL QB without the pressure of a whole franchise on his shoulders.

The Falcons could be a problem for the next 10+ years if it pans out.

I like Penix and think he'll fare better than he gets credit for, but seeing him standing on the sidelines watching Kirk Cousins work is gonna show how much hype there is about rookies.

But it's Atlanta so they'll dorf it up anyway.
