He's having a down year, but he hasn't been terrible. 45.3 yards/punt avg isn't good, but it also isn't 'we have to get rid of this guy immediately' territory. Especially since was still on his rookie deal so cap wasn't a factor at all.

I personally would have let him try to figure it out over the course of the season and then bring in someone to push him in camp next year since his punting isn't game losingly bad and his kickoffs have more or less been fine.

This is going to look a lot like us cutting Matt Gay and him going on to be one of the better kickers in the league, I fear.

Somebody on the buccaneer subreddit pointed out that if we can get one win out of the next three games, we'd come out of the bye week 5-5 where most people had us anyway.

Beat Atlanta and the division is still doable.

If it's San Francisco, we'd have tiebreakers over the miners, lions, eagles, and commanders.

If we beat the Swifties it's a statement win for the team. That builds momentum coming out of the bye.


If we only get one of these, it ain't over yet. 31 other teams don't have Godwin either.
