Natural disasters, they're so hot right now. (hansel.jpeg) So I lost power around 2ish in the morning and went to bed, 30 minutes or so in I heard one of the loudest impacts I've ever heard in my life. Only knew the house was okay because it didn't shake. Below is the result. Big ass turkey oak.

Edit: Guess I should say, that tree is IMO unhealthy and it was because of that that it snapped. It looked fine from the outside but the very inner portion of the base of the trunk where it snapped is black and crispy leading me to believe it may have been struck by lightning at some point and then grew over the wound. The winds were not strong enough to snap a 3ft+ diameter oak tree if it was in good shape.

Power came back about an hour and a half ago. Internet is still out, I'm on a hotspot at the moment.

Thanks my friend. It's the people down by Bradenton/Sarasota who got the absolute worst of it.

Glad you and your peeps are OK.

The black on the tree actually looks like some sort of fungal rot. If I would have been lightning, more of the core would have been black.
