Movie review thread.

Caught the new Bob Marley biopic One Love last night. I think it's on Hulu.

No big celebrities in this one and the disregard for the fact that it's supposed to be in the 1970s show the fairly low budget. The script is bad and has no point other than to showcase the life and music of Bob Marley. I don't mean to bash it, Brad Pitt is the executive producer and he'd probably argue with me but this could have been a lot better in terms of filmmaking and storytelling.

The actors, on the other hand are all believable in their roles and keep it from being a bad film overall. As you might imagine, the soundtrack is excellent and so is the lip syncing that gives you the music video feel these biopic flicks are made for.

An hour and forty-seven minutes of thick Jamaican accents is tough if you've never heard it before. If you're not familiar with Bob's life and music beyond a casual level you'll be served a nice helping of trivia and a selection of hits that'll get you to the record store, but if you wanted a deep dive into the man, his Rastafarian roots, and a serious breakdown of his reggae funk fusion in Exodus, disappointment awaits.

I got spoiled by Get on Up with Chadwick Bozeman as James Brown. That one was excellent.

Like John Wick as all muppets except for Keanu Reeves.

Bonus points if you can replace the lead actor. Like Wrath of Khan with just Ricardo Montalban.

Watched The Last Samurai for the umpteenth time.

Not sure why this flick doesn't get more run. Great movie.

May go high-brow and check out Deadpool / Wolverine tomorrow, early. When I first moved to NC, I would go to local theater every Sunday for an 11:00 am show.

Pretty sure I've been and ole man for about 20 years.
