Bottom post of the previous page:

OK, I'm just going to post this here. These records are from 2023. Do not tell me that all of the crime in the US us done by immigrants.

Victims
Black and indigenous Americans were the most frequent victims of reported crime, with 49% and 48% of victims, respectively.
Violent crime
Black and indigenous Americans reported more serious violent crime and aggravated assault than white or Asian Americans.
Police shootings
Black Americans were killed at a rate 2.6 times higher than white people in 2023.
Hate crimes

I can think of no better perspective to go into criminal justice reform than a minority criminal prosecutor.

I can also think of no better perspective to go into public education reform than a public school teacher from a family of public school teachers who is also married to a public school teacher.

I think those two issues will be very well addressed by the administration.

Violent crime
Wait, 97% of all violent crime is done against back and American Indians? That does not make sense

No. 49% of Black Americans are victims of reported crime. 48% of Indigenous Peoples are victims of reported crimes. These rates are significantly higher than their counterparts.

That is kinda sus. What do you figure the correct amount is?

I'd maybe go about on a limb and and say that POC are the victims of violent crime more than half the time.

Pretty broad there, but I'd say at the very least half.

Here's what I could find from the government in a quick search
https://bjs.ojp.gov/violent-victimizati ... -2008-2021
During the 5-year aggregate period of 2017–21, white persons (19.8 victimizations per 1,000 persons age 12 or older) experienced a higher rate of violent victimization than the rate for Asian, Native Hawaiian, or Other Pacific Islander persons (9.8 per 1,000) (table 1). This pattern held across all types of violent crime. The rate of robbery victimization for black (2.8 per 1,000) and Hispanic persons (2.5 per 1,000) was higher than for white persons (1.6 per 1,000), but the rate of simple assault was higher for white persons (13.3 per 1,000) than black (11.3 per 1,000) or Hispanic (10.6 per 1,000) persons.
Perhaps an entirely different statistic than what Betsy posted but it does suggest that white boys generally just get their asses beat more than anything.

Why are y'all insistent on misinterpreting statistics? 97% of all crime isn't done against Blacks and Indigenous Peoples. This whole statistical model has nothing to do with evaluating percentages based on crime in it's totality but to measure the frequency at which individual ethnic groups suffer as victims of violent crime.

The percentage could be over 500 if you accounted for and combined all of the different ethnic groups and it would be no less legitimate because that's just now how statistics works.

Edit: And violent crime is not restricted to crimes that cause physical damage to one's physical person or property.

So the statistics say half the population of black people have been a victim of a violent crime between 2017-2021?

seems high.

It doesn't really seem that high to me. Black Americans are more likely to live in areas where violent crime is relatively high. They're more likely to be under-educated, more likely to be victims of institutional violence, more likely to be exposed to violence from a young age thus normalizing it.

There's also a culture among certain sub-sets of black youth that encourages physical altercations as a solution to conflict.

I don't know what DV rates are among Black Americans but that may play a part in it as well.

Remember, a violent crime can be something as innocuous as being pushed or spit on. It doesn't have to include getting your ass kicked.

So Betsy's bullet point is correct.

Ain't that something.

Shocking that ethnic groups that have experienced hundreds of years of institutionalized racism and designed poverty have problems with violent crime or crime in general.
