The real world in which people who are neither kids or retirees work these jobs to try to support themselves and/or dependents. What world are you living in?PetePierson wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 3:07 pmIT'S A FUCKING STARTING JOB FOR KIDS AND RETIREES. They aren't career jobs. So every single position out there should provide a livable wage?emby wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 3:04 pm Oh, no! not the fast food restaurants!
It's the wages, huh? It's not the $16 for McLunch? It's not the doordashers adding 20% on top of that? It's not trends in the restaurant business gravitating to fast casual? It's not the commercial real estate market that makes a plot of land on Sunset Boulevard more valuable as something other than the golden arches? It's not franchisees liquidating their position in the company because they forgot to pay taxes?
It's the girl that hands me my coffee with a smile barely making enough money to afford to eat at the restaurant she works at. Got it.
Diatribe over, I'm left to say that I for one am fed up being told that the only way for the economy to work is for the rich people to have all the money. Those fuckers buy and sell people every day without a second thought and it's just crass douchebaggery to blame their own workers for their failed business. You never hear them bitch about Sysco hurting margins.
