Emby's first three round mock
So I have my top four positions as Edge, center, OLB, and Running Back in roughly that order.
We have picks 29, 57, 89, and 92. Four guys in the top 100 meaning if we play it right we can end up with guys in the top five at their position and stockpile picks next year.
So here we go.
29th overall
Chop Robinson, Edge Penn State
Call this my Chop Robinson mock which is also my no trades mock. Robinson lines up perfectly to the Bucs in this draft and will be in a position to make an immediate impact opposite Yaya. Too easy. I just got done writing about him in the Edge thread and like I said there, he will be solid at worst here. There's no reason he can't replace and improve upon the 42 tackles and 4.5 sacks Shaq Barrett got us last year.
Alt pick is Jackson Powers-Johnson. Franchise center out of Oregon who would fill a ginger-sized hole in this roster.
57th Overall
Eggarin Gooper .....I mean Edgerrin Cooper, OLB Texas A&M
Another dog on the defense. This kid might be a better prospect than Sirvocea Dennis last year. I should check on that. Anyway, I see a guy who is already playing special teams who can plug in in front of or behind KJ Britt who cut his teeth on teams here. (HOT TAKE: special teams guys get an edge on otherwise better players this draft)
Alt Pick is Blake Corum, RB Michigan who would romp with Rachaad White in the backfield. Two headed monster!
89th overall
Sedrick Van Pran Center, Georgia.
Pulling blocker with plenty of size and weight in the ass at 6'3 310. Top program guy, 1st team all SEC. Knows how to run block. I just got your starting center in the third round.
92nd overall
Audric Estime, RB Notre Dame
5'11 227lb battering ram for the second half of games who also has breakaway speed. Big value pick here and I love the power run game. He'd be fun to have. but like all RB's he's far from a sure thing.
Alt picks are Tommy Eichenburg, ILB Ohio State and Jonah Elliss, EDGE Utah
Howd' I do?
#5 EDGE
#1 OLB
#3 Center
#6 RB
Alt picks?
#1 center
#2 RB
#2 ILB
#8 EDGE
Shit, my alt game is better than my pick em'

I like everything except for Chop Robinson over Powers-Johnson. I'd have them the other way around with some strong consideration for Cooper DeJean. I know everyone says he's a zone guy or safety, but that's only because he played for Iowa and that's the scheme they ran. He has all of the physical tools needed to be a very good man coverage cornerback.

Rough draft of a mock. There's some corners in that third round range and you can make a very good argument for one of those to be a corner if we go offense earlyThe Outsider wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:25 am I like everything except for Chop Robinson over Powers-Johnson. I just think that with shipping Davis off we need to give serious consideration to drafting a stud DB. Dean is our only corner who I'd even consider decent. McCollum is still mostly just flash without technique. Izien is limited in terms of playing CB. And Tavierre Thomas is pretty much a NCB. We need someone who can at least push the shit out of McCollum for the other outside spot.emby wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 9:48 amRough draft of a mock. Yeah, but I suck at grading corners. The Outsider wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:28 pmI just think that with shipping Davis off we need to give serious consideration to drafting a stud DB. I like DeJean a lot. Aside from the novelty of him being the next Great White Cornerback (RIP Jason Sehorn, we hardly knew ye) he's got great speed, his size is solid, he's strong, and he's got great lateral movement ability which points towards the fact that he should have good twitch and hips when it comes to man coverage. He's also a great returner so if he isn't an instant starter at CB he's immediately upgrading our return game. I could see him at best being our #2 opposite Dean, middle ground he could push at NCB as well as SS, worst case scenario he's depth and an excellent special teamer until he gets up to speed on the game.emby wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:00 pmYeah, but I suck at grading corners. The Outsider wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:28 pmI just think that with shipping Davis off we need to give serious consideration to drafting a stud DB. What encourages me is that CB is a relatively easy position to transition from college to the NFL as. It's like 70% athleticism and DeJean has that. He also strikes me as the kind of dude who, if he doesn't have his technique down, will work to get it there. Along with this, he seems to have both physical and mental toughness having broken his fibula late last year and lately he's been chomping at the bit to get out there and show teams what he can do.

Re: Emby's first three round mock
Two questions, why does everyone in MOCKS love Chop Robinson? PHYSICAL TRAITS they all yell. Wasn't that the reason JTS went in the first round? Eff that JPJ over him 10 out of 10 times for me. Seriously, a project in the first round?

Re: Emby's first three round mock
He's highly likely to be available is the #1 reason. People are talking themselves into him.
Like I said, I think the difference between Chop and Dallas are fairly small at first glance. Dallas apparently smoked the combine though.
I'm good with any of these guys opposite Yaya with this D-line.

Re: Emby's first three round mock
I think Chop has a hell of a lot more polish than JTS who really didn't have any pass rush moves coming out of college. I still like JPJ a hell of a lot more but I wouldn't be mad if we drafted Chop.
