That's one crazy looking bass.

I couldn't do that because my son has been playing bass for over a year now. He's a full blown Les Claypool acolyte and has a real nice woodgrain bass guitar he got from Sweetwater.

My oldest just bought herself a saxophone and mercifully honks on that when I'm not home, and my middle daughter plays ukulele and guitar with the son-in-law who is playing electric.

Big musical house we got here, but it's a fairly new development.

The crazy looking one is a 6 string guitar. The bass is the classic black and white Washburn body. I actually just texted my friend and he says there's a 50/50 chance that it's in one of his parent's storage units so I may be able to fulfill my dream of pretending I'm going to learn to play it again.

Edit: And the sax is a highly underrated instrument.

On 9/11/24 I'm 2 years off nicotine.

My birthday is Thursday and my daughter's baby shower is Saturday.

After that, I don't have anything to cope with or celebrate between then and my wife's birthday three weeks later. So I'm not going to drink much if at all for that three week span.

And the fact that it's noteworthy is why it's necessary.

Besides, quitting nicotine put 20lbs on me that alcohol is keeping on me. Might could lose half of it if I can manage.

My local liquor store might fold though

You're telling me. 10 years ago I was getting shit-housed every night on anything I could get my hands on (within limits I ain't doing meth, crack, or heroin for one) and working like 60+ hours a week. Now I do everything I can to work less than 40 (gotta love salaried positions with no required OT) drink a couple nights a week, smoke weed, and virtually never leave the house unless I have to. But I have 3 dogs, something like 18 ducks now (the fuckers won't stop hiding nests and reproducing, stealthy bastards), and a half an acre of fenced in property with a pool to dick around on.

Got everything I could possibly want right there with the exception of maybe a good woman but my life experiences have shown me that the good part is harder to find than you'd think and the woman part ain't worth the trouble without the good part.

Oh if there is something I absolutely want to do I do it. But most of my hobbies aren't the type that get me out of the house and I don't have any friends that live closer than 3-4 hours away (Ft. Moore in GA) so I just don't have a lot of things that make me want to go out. I would like to take up fishing again and I'm close enough to the water to do so, I also have a few thousand bucks worth of rod/reel/tackle so I wouldn't have to spend big to get back into it. My biggest issue there is that I'm never home during the week. For example I leave my house at 6:30, I get home at roughly 6, take care of animals, feed myself, at this point it's 7:30-8:00 at best and I have like 2 hours before I pass out. And then on weekends I'm too busy catching up on the weekly housework I don't do during the week because fuck not having ANY decompressing time.

Life as a single homeowner who works 40 hours a week on top of a 2.5 hour daily commute, give or take, is not easy time-wise. Throw in the animals and most days it feels like I'm barely keeping my head above water. I wouldn't trade it, because I like my property and I love my dogs, but if I could land a wfh gig I'd be so fucking happy. I had one right after getting my AS last May but it was a $12.00/hr shit tech support role for a really shitty ISP. I was getting bitched at for my metrics when I was taking a number of calls on par with the highest on my team within a month. One Support can go fuck themselves with a rusty rake.
