He cited 33,000 homeless veterans. I don't care if that's an accurate number or not. If he actually does this, more power to him, but he's not going to do this. Is it going to be a permanent program? Do I get a free house if I fall on hard times? Do we use free home ownership for military recruitment?

How about we create a benefit that if a veteran needs a place to stay they can walk into any hotel with a vacancy and get a room? Use of the benefit gets you an on-call VSO who can start working on getting that veteran what they need. So much of a veteran's benefits are means-tested that a lot of guys refuse care so somebody else can have it and that's just not how it works.

Get healthcare to people, get housing to people.
